Well-Architected Framework Review

“We don't know if our AWS setup is right”

Your AWS environment was built over time by different people with different standards. It works, but nobody can tell you whether it's secure, cost-efficient, or ready for growth.

Where you'll be

You know exactly what's right, what's risky, and what to fix first.

A prioritised, actionable report against all six pillars of the Well-Architected Framework. Not a slide deck. Specific findings with remediation steps ranked by business impact.

Your AWS environment was built by capable engineers solving real problems under real deadlines. Each decision made sense at the time. But nobody stepped back to assess the whole, and technical decisions made years ago now constrain what’s possible today.

The cost of not knowing

When your environment was built without a framework, gaps accumulate silently. Security controls that seemed adequate are missing critical protections. Cost inefficiencies compound month after month. Reliability risks only reveal themselves during an incident.

The Well-Architected Framework Review isn’t a compliance exercise. It’s a diagnostic. We assess your actual environment against AWS’s own best practices across all six pillars and tell you exactly what we find.

What you get

An honest assessment. We don’t sell reviews as a gateway to remediation projects. You get a clear picture of where you stand, including things that are working well. If your environment is solid, we’ll tell you.

Prioritised findings. Not everything needs fixing immediately. We rank findings by business impact and risk, so you fix the things that matter most first.

Actionable remediation steps. Each finding comes with specific, technical remediation guidance. Your team can implement the changes, or we can do it through our managed services.

AWS credits. As an Advanced AWS Partner, Well-Architected Reviews qualify for AWS credits that can offset the cost of remediation work.

What's usually in the way

  1. Environment built without a framework

Your AWS estate was built project by project, team by team. Each piece works, but nobody designed the whole. Technical debt accumulated silently.

  2. Security and compliance are assumptions

IAM policies were copied from Stack Overflow. Network security was configured once. Nobody has validated whether your controls actually meet your compliance requirements.

  3. No visibility into cost efficiency

You're spending money on AWS. Is it the right amount? Are you paying for things you don't use? Without a structured review, these are guesses.

What we resolve

  1. Structured review against all six pillars

Operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimisation, and sustainability. Every pillar assessed against your actual environment, not a questionnaire.

  2. Security and compliance validated with evidence

IAM policies, network configuration, encryption, and access controls reviewed against AWS security best practices and your specific compliance requirements.

  3. Cost inefficiencies identified with specific savings

Oversized resources, unused capacity, and missing commitments quantified in pounds. You see the savings before deciding whether to act.

100% Best practice alignment

“The review found risks we didn't know we had. The prioritised list made it easy to act.”

Frequently asked questions

  • What is an AWS Well-Architected Review?

A structured review of your AWS workload against the six Well-Architected pillars: operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimisation, and sustainability. We go through 50+ questions per workload, identify high-risk issues, and produce a remediation plan with priorities.

  • How long does a Well-Architected Review take?

A single workload review takes 2-3 weeks: 1-2 days of interviews, 1 week of analysis, then remediation planning. Multiple workloads in parallel take longer but cost-per-review drops.

  • Is this just a tick-box exercise for AWS?

No. We use the AWS framework because it's comprehensive and battle-tested, but the deliverable is a real remediation plan with effort estimates and risk priorities. Some clients qualify for AWS funding to do the remediation work afterwards. We tell you upfront if you're eligible.

  • What if we don't want to act on the findings?

That's your call. The review tells you what's at risk and what to do about it. Acting on it is a separate decision. Some clients use it for an internal compliance milestone, others as a roadmap they execute over 6-12 months.

  • Do we need to be using AWS at scale to get value from this?

No. We've done reviews on small workloads (5-10 instances) where one fix saved 30% of the bill, and on large estates (1000+ instances) where the value was in risk reduction. The size of the workload changes the cost, not the value.

Ready to take the next step?

No obligation, just a clear conversation about where you are and what's possible.
